Parfums

Scent is the last thing a memory surrenders.

The Ritual

Three movements, performed in darkness.
How a scent is summoned.

The Vigil

Every perfume begins as an absence. We sit with what is missing — a room, a letter, a winter that ended early — until the missing thing consents to be described. The nose works at night. Grief keeps better hours.

The Summons

Then the calling-down. Orris struck like a match in a dark room; resins wept onto hot coals; aldehydes rung like small, cold bells. We do not distill the flower. We distill the moment it was handed to you.

The Binding

What answers must be kept. Smoked glass, a brass seal, wax pressed while it is still warm. A summoned scent left open will wander. Ours are bound — to the bottle, and to you.
